Bridgeway Rehabilitation 50th

A Person Served. A Person Saved. Erving Mayonset rose from the depths of depression to become an advocate for others. His message – if you see someone who needs help, help them find it. “My illness came to me very late in my life – it was a little different ‐ it came on in my late 40’s. I would see commercials on TV about depression. When it hits you, it’s unbelievable how debilitating this is. My sister said ‘c’mon, get happy.’ Until you’re in that predicament they don’t know what you’re feeling. It so happens I got so bad I didn’t sleep for seven days straight. I was having suicidal thoughts, I was sweating, I couldn’t sleep. I told my sister I have to find help, I need help. I was hospitalized for 15 days I take this opportunity being at Bridgeway and all the help they have given me to be an advocate. If you see someone who is a friend, a family member, anyone, that you see needs help – help them find it. It could be seeing a psychiatrist or getting the medication you need. That will save you. A lot of times you see bad things happen on TV. These people could have been saved. I thank God for Bridgeway, the counselors, not only the mental aspect, but the physical aspect because of the partial care program. Everything is here, and you feel like you are part of society again. It’s a great feeling. I thank them from the bottom of my heart. If you know someone who is not feeling well, please get them help. Be an advocate. If you can save one person that person can mean a lot!” I thank God for Bridgeway. Everything is here, and you feel like you are part of society again. It’s a great feeling. 8
