Bridgeway Rehabilitation 50th

A Second Chance. For a Happy Life. “I have suffered emotional, physical and sexual abuse. I survived a suicide attempt, multiple hospitalizations, several bouts of homelessness, and even time spent in jail. With the help of Section 8 and Bridgeway supportive housing services, what was once a shattered life has become a happy home. I was once a single parent and the stress was too much for me. When my children were only 5 and 7 years old, I began to exhibit signs of a serious mental illness called schizophrenia. As a result my children were removed and separated from me. Since then I have experienced many long and sleepless nights, innumerable tears, and lots of pain. After all the heartache, I have been given a second chance in life. Presently, I have two beautiful adult children and a precious granddaughter whom I will get to love because I am in a safe and stable home. We are continually losing lives to addictions, mental illnesses, and suicide, furthermore there are already too many lost and hurting souls wandering aimlessly on the street in search of a loving place to call home. Supportive housing and services provided by organizations such as Bridgeway Rehabilitation Services must continue to keep services funded, so they can keep transforming shattered lives into people who overcome adversity. I leave you with my legacy. What is yours?” It is crucial that a safety net stay in place for America’s most defenseless, like the disabled, struggling single parents, and wounded warriors.
