Bridgeway Rehabilitation 50th
Bridgeway marked the opening of its new space for Psychiatric Emergency Screening Services PESS at 242 E. Main Street in Somerville with a Ribbon Cutting and Open House on August 1 attended by Bridgeway CEO Cory Storch, Bridgeway staff and guests. Bridgeway was chosen by the NJ Department of Human Services, Division of Mental Health and Addiction Services to deliver the critical mental health service in Somerset County. “Many people who are referred to psychiatric emergency screening services are overwhelmed, frightened, in pain, confused and disconnected from themselves and their reference points that connect them to what is familiar and confirming,” said Storch, CEO, Bridgeway. The PESS program’s permanent home will enable professional staff to care for individuals who are approaching or experiencing a mental health and addiction crisis. Bridgeway will offer a strong community based, mobile service that will deliver crisis intervention in the community as an alternative to the emergency room. The goal will be to relieve an individual’s immediate distress in the least restrictive, most comfortable environment possible. If an individual’s symptoms indicate the need for involuntary mental health care, Bridgeway will be authorized to initiate involuntary commitment proceedings.
